1. RENTER INSURANCE REQUIREMENT (CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE COMPLIANT) Pursuant to California Vehicle Code Sections 16020–16021 and 17150, all renters must maintain valid automobile liability insurance that meets or exceeds California’s minimum financial responsibility requirements for the entire rental period. California Minimum Liability Limits (Subject to Change by Law): Bodily Injury: $15,000 per person / $30,000 per accident Property Damage: $5,000 per accident Proof of insurance is required prior to vehicle release and must be provided upon request. Acceptable Proof of Insurance Active insurance ID card, or Insurance declarations page Insurance documentation must clearly display: Renter’s full legal name (must match driver’s license) Insurance company name Policy number Effective and expiration dates Failure to provide valid proof of insurance prior to vehicle release will result in either: 1. Purchase of rental coverage offered by Mansa Car Rentals LLC, or 2. Cancellation of the rental without refund ---
2. INSURANCE VERIFICATION Mansa Car Rentals LLC reserves the right to verify insurance coverage directly with the insurance provider. Submission of false, expired, altered, or misleading insurance documentation constitutes a material breach of this agreement and may result in immediate termination of the rental, forfeiture of all rental fees, and additional penalties. ---
3. OPTIONAL RENTAL LIABILITY & DAMAGE COVERAGE (IF RENTER DOES NOT HAVE INSURANCE) If renter does not carry valid automobile insurance, renter may elect to purchase Rental Coverage offered by Mansa Car Rentals LLC for an additional fee. Rental Coverage Pricing Daily Rate: $20–$30 per day Weekly Rate: Discounted weekly option available Rental Coverage must be purchased prior to vehicle release and applies only during the active rental period. If renter does not have valid insurance and declines to purchase Rental Coverage, the rental will not proceed.
4. DISCLOSURE REGARDING RENTAL COVERAGE (CALIFORNIA DISCLOSURE) Rental Coverage offered by Mansa Car Rentals LLC is not personal auto insurance and may contain limitations, exclusions, deductibles, or coverage caps as permitted under California law. Rental Coverage does not replace renter’s personal responsibility for damages, losses, or uncovered amounts.
5. NO GUARANTEE OF COVERAGE Renter acknowledges and agrees that personal automobile insurance policies may not cover: Rental vehicles Luxury or high-value vehicles Vehicles rented for commercial or business purposes Mansa Car Rentals LLC makes no representations or guarantees regarding the applicability of renter’s personal insurance or purchased rental coverage to: Collision or physical damage Theft or vandalism Liability claims Loss of use Diminished value
6. PRIMARY FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (MANDATORY) Regardless of insurance status, rental coverage purchase, claim outcome, or insurance denial, Renter assumes full financial responsibility for: Any damage to the vehicle Theft, vandalism, or total loss Towing, impound, storage, and recovery fees Loss of use Diminished value Administrative, legal, and collection costs This responsibility applies even if renter’s insurance or rental coverage denies or limits coverage for any reason.
7. COMPANY INSURANCE DISCLOSURE Any insurance maintained by Mansa Car Rentals LLC, if applicable, is secondary, limited, and conditional. Company insurance does not waive renter’s responsibility for: Deductibles Excluded losses Excess damage Policy limitations
8. ACCIDENTS, THEFT & INCIDENT REPORTING In the event of an accident, theft, damage, or loss, renter must: Notify Mansa Car Rentals LLC immediately Contact law enforcement when legally required Obtain and provide a police report when applicable Cooperate fully with all investigations and claims Failure to report incidents promptly may result in additional charges, penalties, or denial of coverage.
9. SECURITY DEPOSIT AUTHORIZATION Renter authorizes Mansa Car Rentals LLC to charge the security deposit or payment method on file for any damages, losses, or costs incurred during or resulting from the rental period. Mansa Car Rentals LLC reserves the right to require an increased security deposit based on: Insurance status Rental coverage selection Vehicle class Rental duration Renter history or perceived risk
10. INDEMNIFICATION Renter agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Mansa Car Rentals LLC, its owners, officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, or expenses arising from renter’s use, possession, or operation of the vehicle.
11. WEBSITE & CHECKOUT IMPLEMENTATION (DEVELOPER NOTES) Required at Checkout: Insurance upload field (required) Checkbox: “I have valid insurance” OR “Add Rental Coverage” Auto-block checkout if neither option is completed Display Notices: California minimum insurance disclosure Rental Coverage disclaimer Primary financial responsibility acknowledgment Legal Note: This policy is intended to align with California Vehicle Code and standard rental industry practices.
